Director of Construction – Mission Critical / Data Center

A growing organization in the mission-critical construction space is seeking an experienced Director of Construction to provide leadership and hands-on project oversight across complex, large-scale data center projects.

This individual will be responsible for leading project teams, driving schedule and budget performance, managing subcontractor and vendor relationships, and ensuring projects are executed to the highest standards of quality and safety. The ideal candidate brings significant construction leadership experience and a strong track record delivering technically complex projects with substantial MEP scopes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead construction teams across multiple active projects and job sites
  • Provide hands-on leadership and support throughout all phases of project execution
  • Manage project budgets, forecasts, schedules, and overall performance
  • Coordinate subcontractors, vendors, consultants, materials, and equipment to support timely project completion
  • Oversee subcontractor performance and ensure compliance with contracted scopes of work
  • Monitor construction progress, identify potential conflicts or delays, and drive resolution with project stakeholders
  • Maintain a strong focus on quality control, safety, and site standards
  • Coordinate inspections and interface with local authorities as required
  • Lead project and subcontractor coordination meetings
  • Identify deficiencies, manage corrective actions, and support punch-list and project closeout activities
  • Build strong relationships with internal teams, clients, subcontractors, and other project partners
  • Support multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining visibility into schedule, cost, quality, and risk

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of progressive construction experience
  • Proven experience leading large, complex construction projects
  • Strong background managing MEP-intensive scopes and subcontractors
  • Previous project management or construction leadership experience within the data center, mission-critical, or similarly complex technical construction environment
  • Data center construction experience strongly preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent relevant experience
  • Strong understanding of construction documents, drawings, specifications, and field operations
  • Demonstrated experience managing project budgets and schedules
  • Ability to identify construction deficiencies and drive effective resolution
  • Strong leadership, communication, planning, and problem-solving skills
  • Proficiency with standard project management and Microsoft Office tools
  • Ability to travel to active project sites as needed
